Small Businesses Embracing MADE IN THE USA
Lindsay Tia – More than just a Bag
24 year-old Lindsay Tia Reilly wasn’t looking to just create another handbag line. She was looking to create an experience. And that’s what she’s done with Lindsay Tia, the lifestyle brand of handbags that are full of “purseonality”, and inspired by the designer’s favorite people, places, and memories.
Manufactured in the Boston area, each bag that Lindsay designs is meant to inspire, encourage bravery, and empower others. That’s the foundation behind one of her key products, the Bravery Bag: a bag that represents our inner hero.
Her products invoke emotion and inspiration and a love of everything that Made in the USA stands for, which is something extremely important to Lindsay. It means so much that she’s started a #IAMBRAVE movement in conjunction with the USO of New England to help support local troops and their families.
“Shopping local is crucial in order to keep jobs in our country,” says Lindsay. “The biggest benefit I get from manufacturing in the U.S. is the appreciation I receive from those customers who it really matters to. I have found that those who support American-made products are my most loyal customers.”
“My tip for businesses looking to manufacture in America would be to do your research. Since my bags have such a specific look, I couldn’t just settle for someone offering me the cheapest price. I had to find a manufacturer who appreciated my story and the quality of the product. By talking to different manufacturers, you’re more likely to find someone who will share your passion in the product, which is what will make your customers keep coming back.”
